Beginning this week, the Contra Costa Central Sanitary District (Central San) will be starting on a major sewer replacement project affecting the Gregory Gardens neighborhood. The development’s original sewers are being replaced, as they are nearing the end of their useful life.
This renovation will benefit from two earlier projects where deeper large-diameter interceptor sewers were installed, allowing replacement with an
increased slope for improved functionality. Renovation work in the streets will be completed using traditional open-cut construction, while renovations in easements will be completed using a horizontal directional drilling method (HDD). Using HDD in easements will reduce construction impacts to properties during the project. The Contractor will provide 7-Day and 2-Day advanced notices for each site as they progress through the project.
The work hours for the project are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and easement work will conclude at 4:30 p.m. During construction hours, Central San contractors will work to minimize traffic delays and provide access to driveways. Outside of work hours, all excavations will be filled or plated, allowing full access to residents.
